Why is a logo important for your business?

Below are just a few points on why I think a logo is fundamental to the identity of a business. It is important to not cheap out on a logo as it is the first thing your customers will see.

Grabs Attention

A logo can quickly grab viewers’ attention and communicate a company’s core values in an interesting way. People sometimes judge a book by its cover and there is nothing we can do about that, so you need to have a logo that will appeal to people straight away and when people judge your business by its appearance it will be a good outcome.

Recognition

People react faster to images than text, right? This is because, our brains process shapes and colours rapidly, sending strong signals to the brain that immediately create feelings, thoughts, memories, and emotions – good or bad. You as a business owner need to make sure this is good, and us the designers will help you with this every step of the way.

Builds Trust

As far as brand identity is concerned, logos do all the work or maybe the most of it. You can create trust among your customers with a logo that positively communicates with them. A logo is something that will stick in people’s minds, thoughts and memories. When something becomes entangled in your memories, it becomes nostalgic and you begin to trust it.

Consistency

Once you have a logo that people trust, you need to keep consistent use of your logo, brand colours and key messaging across all communication channels. This is important and will help strengthen your business. It’s like they say if you’ve got it flaunt it!

Competition

Be different, be daring because why not? You need your logo to tell consumers why your business is unique. There could be 30 different stores that are in the same category as you in your town, but yours should stand out and the way to do this is to have a logo that will grab attention, tell your story and will drive that message home.

Symbol of your Success

Part of your logo’s meaning doesn’t exist until well after it has been created. Some of its meaning develops over time based on the success and growth of your business. It’s good to have a logo to show you this, the development and changes that could be made to your logo as time goes on tell a story about your business. This again will show trust and loyalty to your customers.

Audience

Expectation. Your customers will look for your logo when they see any communications from your brand. Posters, ads, letterheads, etc. Make sure to use your logo front and centre of all your marketing materials so people will recognise your brand and know your story and beliefs from just the logo.

To Conclude, a logo is a vital part of your brand; you shouldn’t let this be at the bottom of your list when starting a new business. Start with this first to give you a clear view of where you want your business to go and how it will grow. You may change and adapt your logo as you go on but that’s how you know your business is on the right track.

On the other hand, I do believe a logo is there to identify a business and sometimes brand strategy is much more effective than a logo for the brand to be recognised. A logo sometimes doesn’t reflect the success of a business, if you want to build trust with your customers, you have to have loyalty and of course, a good product. If the logo and brand strategy work cohesively, you will be able to grab people’s attention, and use great marketing to spread awareness of your brand quickly and effectively.
